FAQ:
Question:
What is Reiki?
Answer:
Defining Reiki is like defining yoga, where there is the translated definition and then lots of deeper meanings. Basically, Reiki is universal energy healing with Rei meaning universal and ki being energy. The practitioner holds divine loving space for the client to do their own healing work. This works like a tuning fork and is extraordinarily powerful. There is also a flow of chi or prana or energy that flows from the divine source through the practitioner into the client. How much energy the client takes in depends on how open the client is and what the needs are. Additionally, how much the practitioner can channel is individual. A long time experienced practitioner whose life centers around love and spiritual practice is going to be more open than someone without this background. I have seen people who practice healing modalities involving energy who go to bars in the evening. Please be mindful about who you choose to open your energy to.
Question:
Why did you create this website and what is your intention?
Answer:
I created this website off a vision I had in meditation. I wanted to have a grounded way to support myself and to serve others at the same time. I wanted to give all that I have and help others to feel the same love that feeds me every day.
My intention with this website is to spread the love that I have and serve others. By God’s grace I pray that loving energy will flow through me and manifest on Earth.
Assisting with healing work gives me a place in society providing me with value and a chance to serve. This helps me to create a difference with the love in my actions.
Deeply, I pray to exhaust all my karma and end up permanently at my gurus feet. Thank you for this blessing of service to which feeds my soul.
Question:
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Answer:
Reiki has many wonderful immediate as well as long term benefits as it works on all levels. A sampling of some benefits includes: speeding up of recovery time from illness or surgery, lower stress, improved circulation, and speeding up of new cell growth. Studies on Reiki are usually done in hospitals and are similar to those done on guided meditation. Reiki has been shown to be correlated with the reduced used of pain medication of surgery. Reiki is supportive of other healing modalities and does not interfere with allopathic, naturopathic, ayurvedic or homeopathic medicine.
Question:
Do you offer in person Reiki healings and attunements?
Answer:
Yes. However, I travel. Last year I went to India, Nepal, Bali and Thailand. I was also in various states in the United States. For part of the next three years I will be based in Boulder, Colorado. Please check my calendar page for where I am to set up a healing treatment, attunement, or Reiki workshop. I have taught Reiki workshops and may offer them again.
Question:
Do you only practice Reiki?
Answer:
No. I practice a mix of techniques that I have coined as Soul Work. This practice comes to me through intuitive guidance and I am in the process of creating manuals from 10 years in this lifetime and many lifetimes of experience. Guidance tells me I am able to do this work because each day I do minimal 5 hours spiritual practice of Metta meditation, Kundalini yoga and hatha yoga (primarily Forest yoga, Astanga and Jivamukti influences). I also spend time in holy places, have an energy healing background, eat raw food and vegan organic food. What this means is that my energy field is open and strong. There have been studies on people who practice deep meditation over many years showing changes in their brains and nervous systems. The chemicals change, the brain waves go into different patterns of oscillation and which parts of the brain that are active change. This means my body and energy fields have been tailored in different way than a typical person’s.
Soul Work uses visualization and meditation to build energy as opposed to running energy through the practitioner into the client as in energy healing. Soul Work works on a much deeper level then Reiki.
Soul Work was created through inspiration. There is a spiritual belief that internal turmoil is fuel for deep spiritual work. As a practitioner of Vipassana meditation, I learned that the center does not allow you to return if you practice energy healing. Having a love for both fields, this caused me to examine myself and what it is that I actually do. A typical session involves using intention to clear energy, intention/yogic exercises to charge and balance chakras, cutting of energy cords and much more. The work is meditation and visualization based, using your energy to build prana (chi or energy) in certain areas as opposed to doing Reiki healing over an area.
For now I have taken a break from the specific form of Vipassana meditation that has a conflict with Reiki to explore my own beliefs of whether to choose the meditation or the Reiki practice.
Question:
So why do you advertise as Reiki?
Answer:
I advertise as Reiki because I include Reiki, but Soul Work is much deeper and I feel more beneficial. Reiki has tremendous benefits alone and people know Reiki. I am a little tired of people making up their own healing techniques, but I suppose if you work with techniques and integrate them into your being, they do change. You are getting Reiki, as well as much more. I simply have lots of experience and can do Reiki, as well as offer you more skilled work.
Question:
What am I receiving exactly?
Answer:
You are receiving Reiki and whatever you like or need on all levels, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Question:
What do you mean about manifesting or creating?
Answer:
People are generally aware of the ancient teaching that thoughts create reality. This is a complex topic and goes deeper than working with the conscious mind, although that helps. First you set you intention, and then you remove blocks energetically. There are many forms of doing this, but for purposes here we will stick to Reiki. Say you want a new partner. After deciding exactly what you want and writing this down, it helps to have energy sent to this to help manifest it. Additionally, removing blocks to this situation can help. Since there really is no time, no waiting, only blocks to be removed, it is silly to wait! Everything happens now.
Question:
How can you help me with this?
Answer:
Because I have experience with this and have trained my mind to be more powerful than someone without this background. For example, I have spent 8 years doing mantra mediation. This is a form of concentration. I did daily sitting meditation as well as chanted my mantra all day long. This means that I am able to focus my mind very well. So when I assist people in birthing in new aspects of their life by visualization, I have experience and ability to focus my will and my mind. Everyone can change their lives through visualization and spiritual practices. All power and infinite love is within you. It is extremely helpful to have assistance, as the strength grows. With prayer you receive the benefit of the square of the number of the people in the room. It is especially beneficial to receive help form someone who already has what you desire because just like a tuning fork that person can help you to tune into that frequency or vibration. They can help you but you need to help yourself. No one can will anything for you.
Question:
Is it that simple?
Answer:
Of course not. You need to do your own self work, yet I can greatly help you. If you want a new partner, and you are still hopelessly in love with your old one, or very anger at your old one, you will need to do some work yourself. This will help you take some necessary steps. Some projects like this are bigger than say asking for a new car. Everyone is at different stages and wants to manifest diverse aspects. This is like a focused prayer, and I can strengthen the signal you put out to the Universe.
Question:
How does this work?
Answer:
Through deep mediation and focused concentration I put out the vibration and hold it for you. This vibration goes to the universal source, the unmanifest and sends the vibration back to you. By changing the vibration you put out, you receive different circumstances. For example, there is an idea in Ayurveda that you attract certain circumstances to support your current situation. If you had hypothyroidism, you would attract circumstances that support that problem. You might crave soy or peanut butter (both of which interfere with the thyroid) or always be cold. Once you put out the vibration of a healthy, balanced thyroid, then you will start to attract help. The frequency melts all of the “blocks” as they would be called in Reiki. You might now meet someone who teaches you yoga poses that help the thyroid, or learn information to change your diet, etc.
This is a very over simplified basic explanation of a complex topic but for purposes here it will hopefully suffice.
Question:
Why do you charge for your sessions?
Answer:
I charge for several reasons. First, this is an energy exchange. Yes, the energy comes from the Universe and I am simply the conduit. However, I need to cleanse and clear my energy afterwards to keep clear of your stuff. This requires additional spiritual practice. Additionally, I need to do further spiritual practice to keep my energy vibration high. I need to keep my body free of toxins (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual). I have done a lot of work to come to this point. Further, I have been practicing Reiki for 10 years, and receive extraordinary feedback on my work. One consistent report is that the Reiki is strong. Like any other strength is life, some people have gifts towards some things, and when they nurture those gifts, they grow. Lastly, I have done Reiki for free on hundreds of people for over 10 years. I have found that people value what they pay for more. While not true of everyone, this was a general finding. Since Reiki is incredible valuable, I have found charging people helps them to value Reiki more. Further, when you give and respect the work as well as yourself, you can open to receive more. You are worth investing in for your won healing! I invite you to create a cycle of honor and respect in your life and open to selflessness.
In short, money is a way for the client to value the work and supports the practitioner in being able to offer the service.
Question:
Is receiving Reiki or energy healing the same from everyone?
Answer:
No! Please be Careful Who You Receive Reiki or Energy Healing From.
While most people will state that Reiki cannot hurt you, I disagree. I have received Reiki treatments where my energy was actually drained. This came from the person’s vibration being lower than mine, through lack of spiritual practice, or through using their sexual energy. This means that at some point during the Reiki session they had sexual thoughts and lost their integrity.
Please always use your wisdom and discernment. Tune into your body and see how you feel emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.
Please read my energy before considering working with me.
Question:
How do I prepare myself?
Answer:
Please keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water. It is helpful to meditate (or sit quietly if that is not your practice) before and after the session. This helps you to receive and integrate. You may want to pray and/or restate your intention. Give gratitude for this healing that the universe is manifesting for you.
Question:
What happens during a healing treatment?
Answer:
Dress in comfortable clothing and take off your jewelry. Ideally you would lay down. This helps you to receive the energy that is coming in. You might also have a vision, feel relaxed or experience nothing. Each treatment is individual. If you feel uncomfortable, discern whether something uncomfortable is coming up to be passed on or if your intuition is telling you to stop. You can stop the energy from coming at anytime by saying out loud that you wish the energy to stop. Then the Reiki will not be lost; only it will go to where it is most needed in the world.
The more quiet and focused you are, the more likely you are to sense what is happening or connect in. It is possible, although not recommended, to receive Reiki anywhere, even at work or while driving.
You most likely will feel tired during or after the session. If you allow yourself to rest, you will be deeply rejuvenated and have more energy afterwards. Some people feel very energized after the session. It honestly depends what state you come in with as well as other factors.
Question:
What you can I expect from a treatment?
Answer:
This depends. You can read my basic treatment plan on the Healing Request Treatment page. Specific intentions are different and unique. Since I have been in this field for 10 years, I can offer support in many areas. I am like a specialized healer with lots of techniques available, not just the basic routine. You can definitely expect some type of shift, no matter what the issue or intention.
Question:
Will Reiki cure me?
Answer:
No, no one will cure you but yourself. Reiki is not a substitute for your own spiritual practice or medication. Reiki can help you, but nothing can help you if you do not help yourself. Reiki can help remove blocks deep from within that often change circumstances on the surface level. However, as you took a long time to develop the conditions you have now on mental, emotional, physical and spiritual levels, you will take awhile to undo these developments. If you do find an immediate miracle cure anywhere, please let me know. I have only seen changes do to love, practice, patience, nurturance and grace.
Question:
What do you mean about depossesions?
Answer:
Sometimes other spirits can be lodged in the aura. I have done depossessions (basically exorcisms) before for disincarnate spirits (not demons). I was not sure I believed in them, but after reading the Unquiet Dead by Dr. Edith Fiore and meeting people suffering from possession I changed my mind. When I met these individuals, I searched for a shaman or a priest to help them. Unable to find any help, I reluctantly stepped in and someone managed to facilitate the depossession. I am willing to help others with this on a case by case basis because I wish someone had been there to help me. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
I love your work and perspective. Are you writing any books or your own manuals? Yes! Both of these are on their way. Thank you for your interest.
Question:
Is this some crazy New Age business?
Answer:
No, this is life force energy, prana, chi or ki depending on what tradition name you use. New Age is a belief system and Reiki is an energy healing system. They are completely different. Some people of the New Age belief system use Reiki but the two are not the same. People have been doing work to build energy such as acupuncture, martial arts, and yoga for centuries. While energy healing is newer, it is still hundreds if not thousands of years old (depending on your source, and energy healing, not Reiki specifically). I personally do not subscribe to this belief system or know too much about it. I only have seen Reiki misunderstood as being connected to this category and wish to clarify this misinformation.
Question:
Do you offer financial assistance?
Answer:
Please do not feel that you cannot receive Reiki because you do not have the funds. I believe in selfless service, or karma yoga. I am happy to work out a payment plan and am able to give on a limited basis for donations. I only pray that you look deep within your self and truly ask if you need this assistance. Some people find the money for everything else they need in their life, but are unable to give themselves the gift of healing. This is not meant to discourage you, but simply to honor the work that I do. My life is dedicated to meditation and yoga. I work to support myself on my spiritual path to follow Amma, the Hugging Saint all over the world and to live in her ashram in India. I am ecstatic to give, but I need to receive to grow so I can give more.
